Elvis and the “Cruisers”

Elvis and the Vintage Cruisers kick off countdown to 50th anniversary.

Elvis Lives!

Yes, that is Elvis (left) welcoming the Vintage Cruisers car club from Mesa, Arizona to Sunsites. The “Cruisers” were in Sunsites to kick off the countdown to Sunsites’s fiftieth anniversary in 2012. With gold 50th anniversary balloons attached to their side mirrors, they drove through the village, surprising residents and attracting them to the front lawn of the Shadow Mountain Golf Course, Recreation and Event Center for an informal car show.

Frank and Anni Kievitt invited the car club and Elvis to visit Sunsites and to participate in the inaugural event for the countdown. After the drive-through and car show, Frank, Anni, and Elvis performed fifties and sixties music during a dinner for the club.

Sunsites volunteers decorated the restaurant at Shadow Mountain and cooked and served the dinner. Marcia Bothman donated candy from her candy store  ”Sweet Treats”,  located on Frontage Road.

What a great day and evening! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this event a special day in Sunsites.
